The thermostat automatically adjusts the amount of water entering the radiator according to the temperature of the cooling water to ensure that the engine works in the proper temperature range.
The function of the thermostat
The function of the thermostat is simply that the opening of the thermostat (the main valve of the knuckle temperature device) is too late to open, which will cause the engine to overheat. It will open the engine too early and make the engine preheating time lengthening and the engine's temperature is too low.
Fault judgement of the thermostat
When the engine cold car runs, there is a lot of cooling water flow at the top of the water tank, which indicates that the main valve of the thermostat can not be closed. When the cooling water temperature of the engine exceeds 70 degrees C, there is no cooling water flow at the water pipe in the water tank, which indicates that the main valve of the thermostat can not open normally.
Check mode of thermostat
When the engine is started, open the radiator cap. If the cooling level in the radiator is quiet, it indicates that the thermostat works normally. Otherwise, the thermostat works out. This is because the main valve of the thermostat is closed when the water temperature is below 70 C. When the water temperature is above 80 degrees C, the main valve door of the thermostat is gradually opened and the circulating water inside the radiator begins to flow.
When the water temperature meter indicates below 70 centigrade, if there is water flowing in the radiator and the temperature is warm, the main valve of the thermostat is closed, the cooling water is circulate too early and the water temperature is rising too slowly.
At the beginning of the operation of the engine, the water temperature rises very quickly. When the water temperature meter indicates after 80, the heating rate slows down, which indicates that the thermostat works normally. On the contrary, if the water temperature rises very quickly, and until the alarm state, it indicates that the thermostat is damaged.
When the water temperature meter indicates 70 C -80 C, if the water temperature is low at the radiator inlet, and the water flow in the inlet pipe of the radiator is no water or water, it indicates that the main valve of the thermostat can not be opened.
The temperature of the engine's thermostat
Because different brands of excavators use different engine models, the temperature of the thermostat is different.
Cummins QSB engine: thermostat regulation temperature is 88 C -97 C, allowing maximum temperature of 108 C, minimum temperature of 71 C.
Isuzu engine: the thermostat is regulated at a temperature of 82 -95 C. The highest temperature is usually at 105 C.
MITSUBISHI D4FR engine: thermostat adjustment temperature is between 71 C and -85 C.
Yanmar engine: thermostat adjustment temperature is 85 degrees -95 degrees.
Hino engine: the temperature of the thermostat is at 95 degrees centigrade.
