Hitachi ZX330 Engine Emits Blue Smoke, Don't Think It Is A Small Problem

Mar 24, 2021

There is a Hitachi ZX330. Observing the external characteristics of the excavator, it indicates that everything is normal. I heard the owner talk about the blue smoke from the Hitachi ZX330 engine. I thought that the blue smoke was just a small problem. I didn’t expect it to cause the oil to burn and affect the engine. Then I brought the machine to the factory for repairs, and the engine gave off blue smoke. the reason:

1. Start the engine in cold state and emit blue smoke.

With the increase of the engine working time, the phenomenon of blue smoke disappears gradually, and it is concluded that the engine oil is being burned in a cold car. This situation is generally due to the aging of the valve oil seal, causing the engine oil to enter the cylinder through the valve oil seal and burn, producing blue smoke.

2. Blue smoke is emitted when the engine accelerates.

If, during work, the load increases suddenly, the engine throttle rises, and the engine emits a lot of blue smoke, it can be preliminarily judged that the seal gap between the piston and the cylinder in the engine cylinder is too large. This phenomenon is due to the fact that when the engine is operating at a high throttle, the oil passes through the oil pan, through the larger gap between the cylinder and the piston or piston ring, enters the cylinder and participates in combustion, producing a large amount of blue smoke. In this case, it is necessary to disassemble and inspect the engine, and then determine whether it is due to the excessive clearance between the piston and the cylinder, or the problem of the oil running up due to the piston ring alignment.

3. The engine emits a lot of blue smoke at any time.

The engine emits a lot of blue smoke under any working conditions. This situation proves that the engine has worn out quite seriously, and an overhaul inspection is necessary. If it is not repaired in time, it is very likely to cause the engine to pull the cylinder, or even cause the engine to be scrapped, resulting in more serious losses.
