How To Use A Breaking Hammer?

Dec 09, 2024

The breaking hammer is one of the most commonly used attachments for excavators,

Crushing operations are often required in demolition, mining, and urban construction.

If the use of the breaking hammer is incorrect,

Not only does it delay the project schedule, but it is also easy to damage the hammer.

So, how to use a breaking hammer?

1. Check and maintain the pre winding machine before use

Just like before driving a car, it is necessary to conduct a winding inspection of the breaking hammer before construction. Firstly, check if the high and low pressure hoses of the breaker are loose, and also inspect for any oil leaks in other areas. Additionally, it is necessary to regularly check the nitrogen pressure inside the breaker.

2. Vertical Strike

Before the breaking hammer works, place the steel chisel vertically on the broken object, confirm the stability of the steel chisel, and then turn on the breaking hammer. During the crushing operation, it is also necessary to ensure that the steel drill is perpendicular to the object being struck at all times; If tilted with the striking surface, the steel drill may slip off and damage the steel drill and piston of the hammer.

3. Strictly prohibit empty shooting

When the hammer is working, the steel chisel should always be in close proximity to the object being struck. If the object being hit has already been broken, please stop hitting immediately. Empty hitting will cause serious damage to the steel drill, flat pin, steel drill seat, front cylinder block, and bolt rod.

4. Do not use a drill rod as a pry bar

The function of the drill rod is limited to vertical strikes. Do not use the drill rod to pry stones, as this can bend the drill rod lightly or damage the internal structure of the hammer.

5. Do not perform crushing operations in water

The breaking hammer is not a closed structure and should not be soaked in water, which can easily damage the piston cylinder and contaminate the hydraulic circuit of the excavator. So try not to work on rainy days or in water; In special circumstances, except for the drill rod, other parts cannot be immersed in water.

6. Don't take too long to strike

The breaking hammer transfers enormous energy to the rock during operation, and if the rock is broken in time, the energy is released. If the rock hardness is high and cannot be broken after multiple strikes, the energy cannot be released in a timely manner and will inevitably be converted into huge thermal energy, causing the temperature at the tip of the drill rod to reach over 400 degrees Celsius, resulting in decarburization and softening of the drill rod, leading to surface rolling or even chipping.
