The Track Of The Excavator Cannot Be Tensioned And There Is A Deviation Phenomenon When Walking!

May 06, 2020

Walking deviation can be regarded as one of the common failures of excavators, and it is also a major problem that plagues owners all the year round. In view of the fact that before and after the recent resumption of work, there are more and more owners who ask for assistance from Liteng machinery maintenance technicians. Master Yang will share the common causes and solutions of walking deviation. Here is a case to explain to you.

Failure phenomenon:

When using a Komatsu excavator with 7000 hours of operation, it was found that the crawler crawler could not be tensioned and there was a deviation phenomenon when the excavator was walking. What is the matter?

Failure model: Komatsu 200 excavator

Use time: 7000 hours

Failure analysis:

1 The grease nipple is clogged.

2 The piston or rod of the tension cylinder is corroded and stuck.

  cause of issue:

The crawler tensioning cylinder has not beaten butter for a long time. Due to the moisture contained in the butter, the tensioning cylinder stays in a position for a long time, causing it to be embroidered with the cylinder barrel. When unloading, the butter in the cylinder can never overflow, and the crawler will not slack automatically.

Troubleshooting method:

First put the bucket on the ground, suspend one side of the track, and use a high-pressure grease gun to turn the track while playing the butter to see if it works. If necessary, use external force (such as a planter, bulldozer, etc.) to pull the rope. If the above method is invalid, the tension cylinder must be disassembled and repaired as follows:

1 Open the track rail link (with the help of oxygen roasting the live pin), take out the guide wheel and tensioner assembly and separate the two parts;

2 Pull out the piston rod of the tensioning cylinder with the aid of tooling and two jacks.

3 Carefully remove and clean the rust in the piston and cylinder, replace the new seal assembly and install the piston back into the cylinder.

4 Combine the tensioning device with the guide wheel and put it back into the X frame, restore the rail link and track and other parts to re-tension the track, and the maintenance work is completed.

Failure experience: This failure is caused by embroidering erosion due to the long-term failure of the tightening cylinder. It is necessary to drain and re-tighten the tightening cylinder every 500 hours.
