How to Use a Pallet Truck and Tips
1. Pre-Operation Inspection
Before using a pallet truck, a thorough inspection is essential for safe operation. Specific inspections are as follows:
1. External Inspection: Check the pallet truck for any obvious damage, such as deformation of the forks or cracks in the frame.
2. Wheel Inspection: Check the wheels for smooth rotation, any sticking or unusual noises, loose axles, and tire wear or leaks.
3. Handle Inspection: Test the handles for smooth operation, buttons, and levers, and check for any looseness or sticking.
4. Hydraulic System Inspection: Carefully inspect the hydraulic lines and pump for leaks. Press the lift handle to check for smooth lifting and lowering of the forks and any unusual noises.
II. Specific Operation Steps
1. Inserting the Pallet: Push the pallet truck in front of the pallet, align the forks with the pallet's fork entry, and slowly push the handle to smoothly insert the forks into the bottom of the pallet. Ensure the forks are fully inserted into the pallet, the pallet rests firmly on the forks, and the forks are evenly loaded.
2. Lifting the Load: After confirming the forks are fully inserted, slowly press the lift handle upwards to allow the forks to lift the load to the desired height, typically 10-15 cm above the ground. Avoid lifting too high to affect the pallet truck's stability.
3. Moving the Pallet Truck: Hold the handle and push or pull the pallet truck as needed. When moving on flat ground, maintain a steady speed. When turning, slow down and avoid sharp turns to prevent the load from swaying or tipping.
4. Lowering the Load: After pushing the pallet truck to the desired location, slowly press the lowering handle downwards to allow the forks to smoothly lower the load until the load is on the ground and the forks are separated from the pallet.
5. Retract the Forks: After the cargo is securely placed, remove the forks from under the pallet and push it to the designated storage location.
III. Operating Techniques
1. Speed ??Control: When moving a pallet truck, control the speed according to the weight of the cargo and the surrounding environment. When moving a heavy load, use a slower speed to avoid loss of control due to excessive speed.
2. Plan Your Route: Before moving cargo, plan your route to avoid obstacles and crowded areas, minimize unnecessary turns and stops, and improve work efficiency.
3. Leverage: When moving heavy cargo, use the leverage of the handle to adjust the direction and strength of force, making it easier to move the pallet truck and reducing physical exertion.
4. Precise Alignment: When inserting a pallet and placing cargo, ensure precise alignment to avoid collisions with the pallet or cargo, which can damage the cargo and the pallet truck.
IV. Precautions During Operation
1. Do Not Overload: Pallet trucks have a rated load capacity, which must be strictly adhered to during operation. Do not overload to avoid damage to the hydraulic system, frame, and other components of the pallet truck, and to prevent accidents.
2. Pay Attention to Your Surroundings: During operation, always be aware of your surroundings, including pedestrians, other equipment, and obstacles. Sound the horn when necessary.
3. Avoid Tilt Operation: Do not park or operate a pallet truck on a slope for extended periods of time to prevent it from tipping over. If moving on a slight slope, exercise extreme caution to ensure the load is stable.
4. Regular Maintenance: Clean, lubricate, and maintain the pallet truck regularly according to its instruction manual. Replace worn parts promptly to extend its service life.
