The 2025 annual meeting of ISO/TC 70 (International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee on Internal Combustion Engines) recently concluded successfully. The proposal for the international standard pre-research project (PWI) entitled "Hydrogen Fuel Internal Combustion Engines – Methods for Identifying and Testing Pre-ignition," jointly submitted by Weichai and Beijing Institute of Technology, was approved. This is one of the first international standard pre-research projects related to hydrogen internal combustion engines initiated by ISO/TC 70, and represents a unique contribution by Weichai to the field of hydrogen internal combustion engine technology standards.
Established in 1949, ISO/TC 70 is primarily responsible for the research and revision of international standards systems related to the definition, performance/testing, and special requirements of internal combustion engines. It comprises one subcommittee, one chair advisory group, and six active working groups. Weichai serves as the convener of Working Group 4 (Performance and Testing), which is leading the revision of the ISO 3046-1 international standard.
As a pioneer in China's hydrogen internal combustion engine field, Weichai has successfully applied for the industry's first national key R&D project for hydrogen internal combustion engines, thanks to its years of profound technological accumulation.
