If the diesel engine emits black smoke, which cannot be eliminated after the above problems are eliminated one by one, it must be considered that the black smoke of the diesel engine is caused by factors other than the diesel engine itself. These factors include:
(1) Fuel quality problem if inferior fuel is used, it may cause serious black smoke from the diesel engine. In addition, the diesel engine has the following phenomena:
The power of the diesel engine is insufficient. The fuel filter element of the diesel engine is often blocked. The diesel engine runs abnormally, the speed is unstable or the acceleration is weak
(2) Environmental factors. The high ambient temperature increases the fuel temperature and intake air temperature, and the fuel gasification and intake air volume are relatively reduced, which makes the combustion conditions worse, resulting in black smoke from the diesel engine.
The altitude is too high. With the increase of altitude, the air density will decrease and the oxygen content in the air will decrease. The fuel will burn under the condition of relative hypoxia, resulting in incomplete and insufficient combustion and black smoke from the diesel engine.
When the diesel engine emits black smoke due to environmental factors, the following phenomena also occur:
The diesel engine has insufficient power. The temperature of the diesel engine rises, which may lead to overheating. The fuel consumption increases significantly. If the diesel engine does not emit black smoke when working in one place, but smoke billows when working in another place, this fault may be caused by environmental factors.
Troubleshooting: properly correct the diesel engine output power and relevant parameters according to environmental factors.
(3) Equipment matching problem the diesel engine emits black smoke, which may also be caused by the mismatch between the diesel engine and the power take-off device of the equipment or the problem of the equipment itself. If the diesel engine does not emit black smoke, but the smoke billows after replacing the gearbox or torque converter, it is likely to be caused by the mismatch between the diesel engine and the gearbox or torque converter.
The method to confirm whether the diesel engine emits black smoke due to equipment reasons is as follows:
Start the diesel engine at medium speed and observe the smoke color at the exhaust port of the diesel engine. If there is a smoke measurement device, record the smoke value at this time.
Remove the coupling between the diesel engine and the equipment, start the diesel engine at medium speed, observe the smoke color at the outlet of the exhaust pipe, and measure the smoke value of the diesel engine at this time.
By comparing the smoke values obtained, it can be concluded whether the black smoke of diesel engine is caused by equipment factors. Especially when the diesel engine is idling, it is smokeless and colorless. As long as it works with load, it will be full of smoke and the speed will drop seriously. This situation is mainly caused by the mismatch between the diesel engine and the equipment.
Troubleshooting: repair the equipment or replace the relatively matched power take-off device.
