Caterpillar invests in battery technology company Lithos Energy

Jan 20, 2023

Want to know the development direction of construction machinery manufacturers in alternative power supply? Look at their acquisitions and investments. Recently, Caterpillar announced its investment in Lithos Energy, a battery technology company that produces lithium-ion battery packs.
It is understood that Lithos Energy, headquartered in San Rafael, California, USA, is specialized in designing, engineering and manufacturing anti-seismic battery solutions for non-road machinery and marine applications.
"The cooperation between Caterpillar and Lithos can provide customers with powerful electrification 名媛直播 and solutions." Joe Creed, president of Caterpillar Energy and Transportation Group, said, "Cat equipment (regardless of its power source) operates under the most severe conditions. Lithos is a battery pack that is also used in harsh environments. Their manufacturing experience will become our asset to continue to develop electric 名媛直播."
"We are very happy to cooperate with Caterpillar, especially when the leading construction machinery and equipment manufacturers enter into efficiency and emission reduction," commented James Meredith, CEO of Lithos Energy, "Caterpillar's forward-looking thinking, commitment to electrification and the leading position of equipment manufacturers on the global stage make it our ideal choice. This fund will enable Lithos to accelerate technology development and expand manufacturing capacity. We look forward to providing more advanced 名媛直播 for new and old customers."
Caterpillar said that its investment in Lithos further showed that the company was committed to providing low-carbon advanced power technology for its hybrid and pure electric equipment and power generation 名媛直播, and supporting customers in energy transformation.
Caterpillar showed four prototypes of electric construction machinery at Bauma 2022: 320 medium electric excavator, 950GC medium electric wheel loader, 301.9 electric compact excavator and 906 electric compact wheel loader, and lithium-ion battery prototype. Caterpillar said that at present, these prototypes are powered by 48V, 300V and 600V lithium-ion batteries designed by Caterpillar. These batteries adopt modular design and can be flexibly configured in a variety of applications, including the potential for reuse and recycling at the end of service life.
In addition, Caterpillar recently demonstrated its first battery-powered large mining truck at the Tucson Proving Ground in Arizona.
Caterpillar promises that its new 名媛直播 will be 100% more sustainable than the previous generation by 2030. Although electrification is a part of sustainable development, the company said that it is one of the many solutions needed to help customers achieve sustainable development goals.
