Excavator Sensor Fault Types And Troubleshooting Methods

May 23, 2020

For excavator sensor failure, the sensor output signal type should be distinguished: digital signal (output range: 0 or 1) or analog signal (output range: 4000 ~ 20000μA), and then combined with the actual fault performance for troubleshooting.

1. Digital signal sensor failure and troubleshooting method When the digital signal sensor fails, the control system will have a clearer fault prompt. First of all, it is necessary to confirm the occurrence of the fault alarm, whether it is indeed the system alarm caused by the sensor fault. For example: the water level sensor alarms, and the prompt flashes continuously on the display. At this time, you should first check whether the water level is too low and whether it reaches the alarm water level. If there is no such phenomenon, then check the sensor. Since the output signal of such sensors must be 1 when the sensor works normally, the system will prompt a fault when the sensor output signal collected by the system is 0, so the short-circuit method or direct measurement method is used for fault judgment.Short-circuit method steps: disconnect the sensor circuit plug , Short-circuit the power line and signal line on the plug of the control circuit, and check the corresponding input signal of the system: "1" indicates that the sensor is faulty and should be replaced or repaired; "0" indicates that the control line is open, and the open point should be found and connected This method is suitable for quickly judging the fault when there is no measuring tool, if there is a measuring tool, the measuring method can be used to judge the fault.

2. Measurement method steps: Disconnect the sensor circuit plug and directly measure the power and signal lines on the sensor: "path" means the control line is faulty, you should find and connect the open circuit point or replace the line; "open circuit" means the sensor is faulty, should Replace or repair.

3. Such faults have clear performance, and are easier to check and eliminate, such as water level sensors, oil level sensors, and various stroke limiters. If no accessories can be replaced or replacement is not allowed on the construction site, under the premise of ensuring the safety of the equipment and personnel, the virtual sensor can be commanded to work normally under the emergency conditions such as equipment displacement through Force command.
