Cylinder Pressure Test Of Hydraulic Excavator Engine

Jul 26, 2018

The compression pressure of each cylinder is measured to check the power loss of the engine.

1) pre test preparation.

A check the color of the exhaust and the leakage of the crankcase, and check the consumption of the lubricating oil.

B check whether air intake system is abnormal, including air filter inspection.

C confirms that the clearance of the inlet and exhaust valves is correct.

D confirms that the battery is charged normally.

E start the engine until the coolant temperature reaches 50 C or above.

F extinguish the engine and remove the hot wire ignition plug from each cylinder.

G a pressure gauge with connectors and high pressure hoses is installed at the location of the ignition plug of a cylinder hot wire.

2) the test of the compression pressure of the engine cylinder.

The a rotary starter makes the engine crankshaft rotate and records the compression pressure of each cylinder.

B each cylinder is repeated 3 times, and then the average value is calculated.

(3) the measurement and adjustment of the clearance of the inlet and exhaust valves

Measure the engine when it is cold. Clean the hood of the engine before starting the test.

1) pre test preparation.

A finds the stop point (TDC) on the compression stroke. The TDC mark on the crankshaft pulley is aligned with the pointer on the timing gear cover, and the No. 1 piston (or 6 piston) is at the stop point on the compression stroke.

B remove the hood of the engine.

C pushes the intake valve and the exhaust valve push rod of the No. 1 cylinder to move up and down. If there is a gap between the two ends of the putter, the No. 1 piston is at the stop point on the compression stroke (if the exhaust valve of the No. 1 cylinder is pushed down, the No. 6 piston stops at the compression stroke).

Starting from the location of the top stop of the compression stroke (No. 1 or 6).

2) check the gap between the intake and exhaust valves.

A inserts thick gauge (Sai Chi) into the gap between the rocker arm and the valve stem to detect the valve clearance.

B measure valves with "O" marks when starting from cylinder No. 1. Measure all valves with "X" marks when starting from the 6 cylinder.

C rotates the crankshaft 360 degrees, aligns the TDC mark to the pointer, and then continues measuring the remaining valves in the same way.

3) adjust the clearance between intake and exhaust valves. When the test results are different from the standard values, adjust the valve clearance according to the same order as the test, and select the thickness of the feeler gauge.

A loosens the lock nut that regulates the screw on the rocker arm. According to the standard clearance value of the inlet and exhaust doors (EX200-5, the standard clearance of the exhaust valve is: the standard clearance of the inlet valve of 0.4mm.EX220-5 is 0.30mm, the standard clearance of the exhaust valve is 0.45mm) to adjust the valve clearance.

B after adjustment, re tighten the locking nut to achieve the specified torque. The specified torque is (25.5 + 4.9) N'm.. Once the lock nut is tightened, the valve clearance is checked again.
