26 Little Secrets Of Replacing The Hydraulic Oil Suction Filter Of An Excavator Every 1000 Hours

Apr 21, 2021

Every excavator has a normal operation, and especially for the hydraulic system, the quality of the oil determines whether the hydraulic excavator can operate normally. The replacement of hydraulic oil is an important part of the maintenance of the excavator. So since it is such an important matter, what should we pay attention to when changing the hydraulic oil of the excavator?

Note: The hydraulic oil may be very hot, wait for the oil to cool down before you can start working!

1. For easy access, turn the car 90 degrees and park the machine on a level ground.

2. Position the machine with the stick cylinder fully retracted and the bucket cylinder fully extended.

3. Lower the bucket to the ground.

4. Turn off the automatic idle switch.

5. Run the engine with no load at low speed and no-load speed for 5 minutes.

6. Turn off the engine. Remove the key from the key switch.

7. Pull the pilot control switch lever to the locked position.

8. Clean the top of the hydraulic oil tank to prevent dirt from entering the system.

9. Open the fuel tank cap key and slowly unscrew the fuel tank cap to release the pressure.

10. Loosen and remove the hydraulic oil suction filter case cover.

11. Loosen and remove the drain plug at the bottom of the hydraulic oil tank to allow the hydraulic oil in the oil tank to drain.

12. Take out the suction filter and suspension rod assembly ⑤

Important: If the steps to shut down the engine are not correct, the turbocharger may be damaged!

Note: The hydraulic oil tank is under pressure. You must open the fuel tank cap key, slowly unscrew the fuel tank cap, after releasing the pressure, carefully open the cap!

13. Clean the filter and the inside of the box. If replacing a new suction filter element, install the new filter on the suspension rod as shown in the figure. Tighten the nut to 14.5 to 19.5 N.m.

14. Use an oil suction pump to suck out the remaining oil at the bottom of the oil tank from the lid of the oil tank. The hydraulic oil tank is about 239L.

15. Install the filter and suspension rod assembly ⑤. Make sure that the filter is correctly positioned on the outlet.

16. Clean, install and tighten the drain plug ⑧ at the bottom of the fuel tank.

17. Add oil until the oil level reaches the mark on the oil level gauge.

18. Install the oil suction filter box cover ②, make sure the filter and suspension rod assembly ⑤ are in the correct position, and tighten the bolts to 49N.m.

Important: If the engine is started when the hydraulic pump is out of oil, the hydraulic pump will be damaged!

19. Tighten the fuel tank cap and lock the key of the fuel tank cap.

20. Run the engine at low speed and no load, and operate the control lever slowly and smoothly for 15 minutes to purge the air in the hydraulic system. Note that there is an exhaust device in the pilot circuit. In this case, after completing this step, the air in the pilot circuit will be removed.

twenty one. Position the machine with the stick cylinder fully retracted and the bucket cylinder fully extended.

twenty two. Lower the bucket to the ground.

twenty three. Turn off the automatic idle switch.

twenty four. Turn off the engine. Remove the key from the key switch.

25. Pull the pilot control switch lever to the locked position.

26. Check the hydraulic oil tank oil level gauge. If necessary, open the fuel tank cap to refuel.
