Heavy Snow Is Coming! Things The Driver Of The Excavator Should Know

Mar 30, 2020

1. For severe cold weather, choose suitable fuel and engine oil

The low temperature in winter makes the diesel's fluidity worse, the viscosity increased, and it is difficult to spray, resulting in poor atomization. Therefore, the diesel model should be selected according to the local minimum temperature of 7-10 ° C.

10 # diesel: suitable for high-speed diesel engines with preheating equipment

5 # diesel: suitable for use when the temperature is above 8 ℃

0 # diesel: suitable for use at temperatures between 8 ° C and 4 ° C

-10 # Diesel: suitable for use at temperatures between 4 ℃ and -5 ℃

-20 # diesel: suitable for use at temperatures between -5 ° C and -14 ° C

-35 # Diesel: suitable for use at temperatures between -14 ° C and -29 ° C

-50 # Diesel: suitable for use when the temperature is between -29 ℃ to -44 ℃

This is the light diesel oil currently used in China. It is divided into 7 marks according to the freezing point. The diesel oil with the appropriate mark should be selected according to the local minimum temperature to prevent the diesel oil from being frozen.

Under severe cold temperatures, the oil will become more viscous, placing more burden on the engine, affecting performance and even damaging parts. In order to ensure the good performance output of the engine, a special low-viscosity engine oil should be selected at low temperatures, and a special antifreeze engine oil can be used if possible.

2.Use antifreeze properly

In severe cold weather, a lower freezing point antifreeze should be selected, and the corresponding antifreeze should be selected according to the lowest temperature in the location. If necessary, you can release the coolant after work every day to prevent the coolant from being frozen, causing the engine to fail to start and damaging related components. However, it should be noted that run at idle speed before the flameout, wait until the temperature of the cooling water drops below 60 ℃, the water is not hot, and then turn off the flame and put it in the water. Use a bucket to put the discharged water in the cab and add it the next day. it is also fine.

3. What to do if it is difficult to start

Diesel engines are often difficult to start under severe cold temperatures. The following editors will list several reasons and solutions for diesel engine startup difficulties.

The first is that the battery power is insufficient. The battery power will be severely reduced in a low temperature environment, and the power is not enough to drive the starter motor, causing it to fail to start. Therefore, it is extremely important to protect the battery in severe cold environments. You can remove the battery after work and store it in a dry, suitable temperature to keep the battery with sufficient power.

Another reason for the difficulty of starting the engine in winter is that the speed is not high, the preheating is insufficient, and the diesel does not reach the combustion temperature. The usual preheating is divided into two methods: air preheating and combustion chamber glow plug heating preheating. The common engine is air preheating. We can find that the previous old excavators did not have a preheating function and often needed to start the injection fluid. To help warm up, but now many new machines have this feature, usually in the cab start switch. When the excavator starts, generally warm up for 5-10 minutes before starting the excavator.

3. Some misunderstandings of excavator in low temperature environment

In heavy snow weather, the visibility is low, and the ground is covered with thick snow. Don't hit the direction while walking, otherwise it is very easy to cause danger such as skidding. Check the ground conditions during operation and operate at a uniform speed.

If the engine is difficult to start, do not start the starter for more than 15 seconds. The interval between two starts should be more than 30 seconds to avoid burning the motor.

The engine cannot be started. Do not directly grill the engine intake pipe or even the fuel tank with an open flame. This may seem possible, but in fact, it may damage the engine and burn the machine in serious cases, causing a fire accident.
