Precautions For Operation Of Excavators in Special Environments

Jun 23, 2021

1. Uphill and downhill

  (1) When driving down on a steep slope, use the walking joystick and the accelerator joystick to keep the driving speed low. When driving up or down on a slope exceeding 15, the stick and the boom should maintain an included angle of 90°-110, and the distance between the back of the bucket and the ground should be 20~30cm, and the engine speed should be reduced.

  (2) If you want to brake when going downhill, put the walking joystick in the neutral position so that the brake will work automatically.

  (3) If the track shoe slips when driving uphill, in addition to relying on the driving force of the track shoe to drive uphill, a stick should also be used.

The pull of helps the machine go uphill.

  (4) If the engine stops when going uphill, you can move the walking joystick to the neutral position, lower the bucket to the ground, stop the machine, and then start the engine

  (5) The engine is turned off on a slope, and the rotation operation is prohibited to prevent the upper structure from rotating under its own weight.

  (6) If the machine is on a slope, do not open the driving door, which may cause sudden changes in operating force. The driving door should always be closed.

  (7) When walking on a slope, do not change the walking direction, otherwise the machine may tip or slip. If you must change the walking direction on a slope, you should operate on a gentler, firm slope.

  (8) Avoid crossing slopes, as this may cause the machine to slip.

  (9) When working on a slope, do not perform simultaneous rotation because it will easily cause the machine to tip over or slide due to loss of balance.

Turn and operate the boom carefully at low speed.

  2. Working in muddy water and soft ground

  (1) If the river bed is flat and the water flow is slow, the operating depth in the water should be below the centerline of the sprocket wheel.

If the condition of the river bed is not good and the water flow is fast, you must be careful not to let water or gravel invade the slewing mechanism, the slewing pinion, the central slewing joint, etc. If water or sand invades the large slewing bearing, the large ring gear of the slewing pinion and the central slewing joint, it should be replaced with a new grease or large slewing bearing immediately, and the operation should be suspended and repaired in time.

   (2) When working on a soft ground, the ground may sink little by little. Pay attention to the condition of the lower part of the machine body when working.

   (3) When working on soft ground, be careful not to exceed the sinking depth of the machine

  (4) When the one-sided crawler is in muddy water, the boom, stick and bucket can be used to lift the crawler, and then padded wooden boards or logs to let the machine drive out. If necessary, place a wooden board under the bucket. When using the working device to lift the machine, the angle between the boom and the stick should be 90°-110°, and the bottom of the bucket should always be in contact with the muddy ground

5) When the crawlers on both sides are in the muddy water, the wooden boards should be placed according to the above method, the bucket should be staggered into the ground (the bucket teeth of the bucket are inserted into the ground), and then the stick is pulled back, and the walking joystick Pull out the excavator in the forward position.

(6) If the machine is stuck in muddy water and cannot be separated by its own strength, a steel wire rope with sufficient strength should be firmly tied to the walking frame of the machine body, and a thick wooden board should be placed between the wire rope and the walking frame to avoid damage to the wire rope and the walking frame. Body, and then use another machine to drag upwards. The holes on the walking frame are used to tow lighter objects. Do not use to pull heavy objects, otherwise the holes will break and cause danger.

  (7) When working in muddy water, if the connecting pin of the working device is immersed in the water, butter should be added every time the work is completed. For heavy-duty operations or deep excavation operations, grease the connecting pins of the working device before each operation. After adding butter each time, operate the boom, stick and bucket several times and then add butter until the old butter is squeezed out.

   3. Work in the coastal area

Before operation, check whether the screw plug drain valve and each cover are loose. If they are loose, tighten them. If necessary, add a proper amount of butter to the electrical equipment to prevent the equipment from rusting. After the operation, the entire machine should be thoroughly cleaned to remove salt, and butter or oil should be added where necessary to avoid rust.

   4. Working in dusty areas

  (1) The air filter element should be checked and cleaned frequently, and replaced if necessary.

  (2) Frequently check the water pollution in the water tank and shorten the time interval for cleaning the water tank to prevent the internal blockage of impurities from affecting the heat dissipation of the engine and hydraulic system.

  (3) Be careful when adding diesel fuel, do not allow impurities to be mixed into the diesel fuel, and check the diesel filter element at an appropriate time, you must go down, prop up the machine, and then use a safe bracket to support the machine.

  (7) Under normal circumstances, there is a lot of pressure in each hydraulic oil pipe. Do not add oil, drain oil, or perform maintenance and inspection before releasing the internal pressure.

  (8) When the engine is shut down just now, the engine coolant, various parts, and the oil in the pipeline are still at high temperature and high pressure. At this time, opening the lid to drain water, drain oil or replace the filter element will cause burns or other injuries. Therefore, it is necessary to wait for the temperature to drop before performing inspection or maintenance.

  (9) When adjusting the tightness of the track, be careful with high-pressure grease. There is high-pressure grease in the tensioning cylinder. If the screw plug and grease nipple are loose, the high-pressure grease will spray out, causing damage or casualties. Therefore, when the oil plug is loosened by turning it counterclockwise, it must not exceed one turn. It is forbidden to face the face, hands, feet or other parts of the body directly against the oil drain plug or grease nipple.

  (10) When checking diesel oil, engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant or battery electrolyte at night, use explosion-proof lamps, otherwise there is a danger of explosion.

  (11) Before performing maintenance and excavator repairs under the machine, all movable working devices should be lowered to the ground or the lowest position. Be sure to use wedges to cushion the track of the machine. If the machine is poorly supported, do not work under it.

  (12) Short circuit of electrical system can easily cause fire. Always clean and tighten all electrical connection parts. Before work, check whether the cables or wires are loose, kinked, hard, or frayed, and check whether the terminal cover is lost or damaged, and replace it with a new one in time. The unusable cables and wires should be replaced in time. A blown fuse must be replaced with a fuse of the same capacity, not a fuse with a larger capacity, and not a thin copper wire. If the same fuse is blown several times, it means that the system is malfunctioning, and you should immediately ask professional excavator repair personnel for inspection and repair.
