Why Does The Hydraulic Oil Of The Loader Turn Black?

Apr 12, 2020

There are many hydraulic components in construction machinery. The hydraulic oil plays a lubricating role in the hydraulic system. If it is not replaced for a long time, the hydraulic oil will be darkened and the viscosity will drop, which will directly lead to increased wear of various hydraulic system components such as the main pump, valve, multi-directional valve and oil seal of the loader. Long time will seriously affect the consistency and weakness of the loader.

It is common for hydraulic oil to turn black. The newly purchased hydraulic oil is amber or light yellow, and it will turn brown or even black after a period of use. What is the blackening of hydraulic oil? Does the blackening of hydraulic oil mean that the performance is degraded and cannot continue? Some people think that blackening of hydraulic oil is a natural phenomenon, and there is no need to pay attention to it. How is the hydraulic oil turning black? What should I do if I find that the hydraulic oil turns black?

What is the reason why hydraulic oil turns black?

1. Internal impurities

Iron filings and other metal impurities are the main factors affecting it. Among them, it is possible that the wear debris generated by the high-speed rotation of the pump. May wear all parts that rotate with the pump, such as bearings, volume chambers, etc. In this short period of time, there will be no abrasive debris generated by the hydraulic valve spool front and back operation and the cylinder front and back operation.

If your loader is newly purchased, a lot of metal impurities will be generated during the running-in process. When changing the oil, the hydraulic oil in the oil tank should be completely emptied and wiped clean with a cotton cloth before adding new oil. If it is not emptied, there may be a lot of iron filings in the fuel tank, which will also cause the new oil to be contaminated and blackened.

2. External environmental impact

(1) Due to mechanical failure and aging of the loader oil seal, the pipeline is not tightly sealed.

(2) The working environment of the loader is bad, and the filter element is blocked;

Dust prevention measures are not in place during cleaning, oil changes, and maintenance. During operation, impurities are brought into the hydraulic system.

Therefore, you should check whether your hydraulic system is closed and the breathing holes are intact. Check the exposed part of the hydraulic part of the equipment to see if the seal is good, such as the dust ring of the cylinder.

If your loader often uses breakers, the reason why the hydraulic oil turns black is not only impurities, but also irregular butter filling.

When filling the butter, you need to lift the hammer and press the steel into the piston, just fill half of the standard grease gun. Because when filling metal is added, if the filling metal is not pressed tightly, the added butter will be at the upper limit of the filling metal groove. When the filling metal works, the butter will jump directly to the main oil seal of the breaker, as Reciprocating movement, the butter will enter the cylinder of the hammer, and then the hydraulic oil in the cylinder of the hammer will be mixed into the hydraulic system of the loader, causing the hydraulic oil to become black and black.
